Before you ring
What people ring up to ask
How far ahead do I need to book?
Tuesday to Thursday you can usually walk in, especially before seven. Friday and Saturday evenings go roughly ten days ahead, and Sunday lunch about a week. If we are full we keep a list and ring round when something drops — it happens more often than you would think.
Is there anything for someone who does not eat fish?
Always at least two plates, and the kitchen would much rather cook something proper than hand over a bowl of the garnish. Mention it when you book and Nadia will have thought about it before you sit down.
Can you do a group?
Up to ten, on the long table by the window, and we ask you to eat from a short set menu so the kitchen can keep up. Above ten we would be doing you a disservice — there are rooms in town built for it and we are happy to point you at them.
Where do we park?
The harbour car park is a two minute walk and is free after six. Do not trust the satnav past the fish market; it will try to send you down the slipway, which is a boat ramp.
Are children welcome?
Very. There are two high chairs, the kitchen will happily do a small plate of whatever fish is on, and nobody here minds noise before eight o'clock.
Do you add a service charge?
No. The price on the board is the price on the bill. Everyone here is paid a proper wage rather than an optimistic one, so a tip is genuinely a tip.
We would rather you rang
Email is fine for a Tuesday. For a Saturday in August, please pick up the phone.
